Circus students will compete on a brief by creative agency iris to help make the ATL a better place. More details in our launch meeting on January 13th at 1:30 in the theater.

In a unique initiative by creative agency iris and The Creative Circus, our students will soon compete on a brief to make the city better. The project marks the launch of the industry’s first Atlanta-focused award show ‘A+: Student Ideas for a Better Atlanta.’ The idea was borne out of global agency iris’ love of Atlanta and the desire to make it even better by teaming up with the hottest young creative talent in town who know what their city needs.

Every year, iris will issue a brief to the students on projects that can help make Atlanta more progressive, such as bike lanes, revamped food cart licensing, urban agriculture and better public transportation. In short, the kind of things that make a city a better place to live and work.

For the first A+ brief, iris is extremely excited to be working with The Atlanta Beltline Partnership, the awareness and fundraising arm of the most ambitious public project Atlanta has ever seen. Currently under construction, The Atlanta Beltline will provide a network of public parks, multi-use trails and transit along a historic 22-mile railroad corridor circling downtown and connecting 45 neighborhoods directly to each other. The Atlanta BeltLine is among the largest urban redevelopment projects currently underway in the United
States.

Jon Wright, managing director of iris Atlanta, says: “Atlanta has incredible potential, and iris wants to help build the creative community. We’ve got world-class marketers here, one of the best ad schools in the country, and a city that’s got so much to offer. We feel like A+ is a great way to start getting all these elements working together.”

A+ will launch this Friday, January 13th at 1:30 in the theater at the Creative Circus. Our students will have two months to concept and execute. Once their ideas are submitted, the work will be judged by a panel of local ad industry creatives. The project will culminate in a party at iris’ office on Peachtree Road, with prizes being awarded for the best work on Friday, March 17th, 2012.

For more information, visit the Facebook page and be here on January 13th to scope out the competition!
