David Haan

Dave has spent three decades in and around the advertising industry. He is a student of advertising history and has accumulated quite a few war stories of his own during long stints with FCB, McCann Erickson and Frankel (the finest Sales Promotion company ever) and postings in Chicago, Toronto, New York, San Francisco, Detroit and LA. Dave has had the pleasure (and he means that) of working with Coors, Molson, Mazda, General Mills, Nestle, S.C. Johnson, Sunkist, Visa, Dreyer’s, Clorox and Zicam. Dave has a Master’s in Advertising from Michigan State and has taught Advertising Strategy and Campaigns courses at Michigan State, Illinois and Cal State Fullerton. Dave is a huge sports fan who has attended most major sporting events, but he doesn’t get NASCAR. He is committed to breaking Ken Jennings’ all-time record on Jeopardy.

    Hi Dave,

NASCAR is all about tire pressure, tire temperature, friction, weight balance of the car and the skill of the driver and pit team. At least that’s what I’ve been told, as frankly, I don’t get it either.

My name is Donal Jolley (I go by Don) and I’ve been freelancing since 1994. Along the way I’ve designed many book covers, magazine spread, websites, and everything else a designer gets to do. My portfolio includes the past two covers of “The Photoshop WOW! Book” series and I co-authored “Beyond Digital Photography: Transforming Photos into Fine Art with Photoshop and Painter” with Cher Threinen-Pendarvis. I was the Photoshop/Camera RAW whiz while she focused on Painter. I’ve also been an occasional instructor, which I really enjoy and am quite proficient doing.

The reason I’m dropping you this note is that I’m getting that teaching itch again. If there is an opportunity that can work with my wife’s schedule (she’s an ER nurse at Children’s) I’d love to discuss the possibility.

My website is http://www.donaljolley.com. There you will find quite a variety of “stuff,” from Photoshop intensive design to illustration and cartooning. I hope you enjoy it.

    Hi Don,
Thanks for the NASCAR insight. I have directed your email to Janie Belden, our Director of Education who can discuss possible teaching opportunities with you.
We appreciate your interest and hope you stay in touch.

    Hi Don!

Thanks so much for the info. I’ll forward this to the department heads for review. Is there a certain class or “thing” that is your favorite to teach?

  5. Hey! I know that guy!

  6. There is visibly a lot to realize about this. I believe you made some nice points in features also.
